The Brunswick High Rifle Team is an extremely competitive team. The rifle team is said to be the
most challenging of sports in high school, because it involves physical, and above all mental strength and stability. What
makes us so competitive is the way we pick our team members. At the beginning of the school year the rifle team would
have 15-20 people wanting to shoot. We ask the new cadets one question "How long do you think it will take you to
be good?" Most of the answers are "two weeks, a month, few days", the real answer is 2 years. The new cadets
undergo a vigorious initial training where we show them the proper position and key elements in shooting. It's during
this time we lose the majority of cadets due to the physical difficulty of shooting. After initial training, new cadets practice
with upperclassmen, where only the committed and strong minded new cadets remain. This year our rifle team is at our
full potential. We are currently shooting a team average in the 1120-1130 point range. Our team goals
are to shoot an average of 1140+, get in the NJROTC nationals, and win the state GHSA championship.
